Kat Zhang
Kat Zhang started writing her first novel at age twelve and hasn’t let up since. In high school, she wrote What’s Left of Me, which soon expanded into her Young Adult series, “The Hybrid Chronicles.” The trilogy, about a parallel universe where everyone is born with two souls, concluded in 2014.
She then published two Middle Grade novels: The Emperor’s Riddle (about hidden treasure, lost aunts, and China), and The Memory of Forgotten Things (about grief, solar eclipses, and misfit children). Her popular Amy Wu picture book series has been featured by the New York Times, Parents magazine, and the 2021 Read for the Record Campaign, where over 2 million readers came together to read one of Amy’s stories.
Last but not least, she teamed up with the creators of AVATAR: The Last Airbender to write the first AVATAR picture book, Heart of a Hero, and is working on a series of illustrated books with Baobab Studios and Penguin Random House about the Magic Paintbrush legends!
