Jan Carr
Jan Carr has written more than 50 books, including four in the humorous new BUDDY AND BEA chapter book series, illustrated by cartoonist Kris Mukai, which follows the antics of two second graders straining to get along in their busy, diverse classroom. Jan’s most recent picture book, STAR OF THE PARTY: THE SOLAR SYSTEM CELEBRATES!, illustrated by Juana Medina, got (appropriately!) starry reviews. With degrees in child development and early childhood education, Jan has worked as a Head Start teacher in New York City, where she lives, and in Cincinnati, where she grew up. She’s also worked as a children’s book editor, a magazine editor at Sesame Workshop, and a writing instructor at both The New School and School of Visual Arts.
